It feels a little early to start talking about Christmas but it is not long before the shops will remind us of the reducing numbers of shopping days available.
Not everybody looks forward to Christmas Day. For many it is a time of celebration and joy. For some it is a day spent alone.
Members of our church will be cooking and serving lunch in the Cornerstone Centre on Christmas Day this year for those unable to spend the day with friends and family. We aim to have a relaxed and enjoyable day that includes a traditional lunch, a little carol singing, optional quizzes and lots of chatting. We will welcome guests from mid-day and expect to conclude the event by 4.30pm. Transport can be arranged if required.
Although the lunch is being organised and hosted by St John’s it is not exclusively or even especially for church members. It is to be a community lunch and so is offered to anyone living locally who might be alone on Christmas Day. This is a first for us and so we would appreciate advice and any support whether financial, goods or in person.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org or contact the Parish Office for further information, to offer support and/or to express an interest in attending.
