Face Coverings

From 8 August, face covering are required by law to be worn in a greater number of public indoor settings including places of worship, museums, galleries, cinemas and public libraries.

There are valid exemptions for some individuals and groups not to wear a face covering. However, this exemption does not apply to worshippers, who should wear face coverings consistent with the requirements for any other public space.

St John’s Services

St John’s will continue to be open as follows:

  • Morning Prayer on Wednesdays at 9am in the Memorial Chapel
  • Holy Communion on Wednesdays at 10am in the Nave (main body of the church building)
  • Holy Communion on Sundays at 10am in the Nave (main body of the church building)

Services are subject to carefully planned and strict ‘COVID protocols’ including one-use service sheets, clear instructions, careful stewarding, distanced seating and movements, high level hand hygiene, and (for a while I suspect) no singing. Communion will be offered to the congregation in one kind (wafer only).

Can we pray for you?

There are occasions when each one of us feels a need for the support of prayer, personally. And during these difficult and taxing times, there may be any number of additional reasons why any of us might want someone to pray with or for us.

St John’s will always offer the opportunity to request personal prayer, but perhaps not everyone is aware of this? There is no need to explain why you need the prayer (unless you choose) – just ask. Send an email to or telephone either 01932 343128 (Hazel Craig) or 01932 851830 (Geoff Jones) and they will make sure that your request is made known to the Ministry Team. Be assured that you, or those you are seeking prayer for, will be prayed for. The same goes for other needs you may have – please get in touch if you need help and we will see what can be done.
